Exercise is wonderful for the body and mind.  However, if you are like myself and not in perfect health you have to be mindful of the type of exercise you engage in.  Intense exercise causes stress on the body which is a good thing because after you adapt you are stronger.  But, if this is chronic or you have an imbalance (anxiety, PCOS, thyroid, etc.) intense exercise can make it worse.  Strenuous activity releases stress hormones which you will want to keep to a minimum if you are trying to balance hormones or reduce anxiety.  My skin was at its worst when I was training the hardest indicating my hormones were definitely effected.  If you are in good health then by all means train as hard as you like.  I know I would be if I could since I love it.

Now, I do lighter weights a few times a week.  I love Tone it Up videos on youtube.  I have apple tv so I can do them in my own living room.  The videos are short, fun, and really work for toning.  I also try to do some form of yoga everyday.  I usually alternate between cardio  intense yoga classes with vinyasa relaxing ones.  I love an instructor named Ali Kamenova who also does videos on youtube.  She has a wide variety of classes for all different levels.  This exercise routine keeps me in shape without disrupting my hormones. Yoga is also excellent for anxiety and has a calming effect. I will share my current routine down below.  Best of all its free (besides purchasing a yoga mat and weights) and you don’t have to leave home!

Monday- Tone it up ab video followed by Ali Kamenova tabata or hiit (high intensity interval training) video followed by stretching.

Tuesday- Tone it up leg video followed by Ali Kamenova interval vinyasa or power flow yoga.

Wednesday- Tone it up arms video followed by Ali Kamenova tabata or hiit video (I usually repeat these twice as they are short) followed by stretching.

Thursday- Tone it up full body video followed by Ali Kamenova interval vinyasa or power flow video.

Friday- Tone it up back and chest video followed by Ali Kamenova tabata or hiit video followed by stretching.

Saturday- Tone it up glutes followed by Ali Kamenova interval vinyasa or hiit video.

Sunday- off or relaxing yoga class.

I always finish with 5-10 minutes of meditation and I plan on walking more outside when the weather gets warmer.
